PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography has been a creative outlet for me since I was 10 years old. It was mostly black & white photos with nature as the subject. Ansel Adams was an early inspiration. But later I discovered Dali, Hieronymus Bosch, and many other surreal thought provoking artists. The weirder the better. I had a tendency to push the boundaries of what I thought was normal. I liked to get subtle reactions from the viewer, and so it was reflected in my photography as well as all forms of my art. Sadly no work survived from this phase.
This intention to stir something deep in the viewer now comes from a different place, and as I write this I'm realizing I do not do the photos for the viewer anymore, I do it because I enjoy it. Its a way of visually journaling what is happening in that moment. It is nice that there are others who enjoy it as well. The fact that others appreciate them inspired me to create a website displaying many of them. It's inspiring to see all of them together like this. Hope I keep going with it...
These images all show up randomly. Something catches my breath and I take way too many photos of it, then play with my favorites ones on various apps, or I don't use any apps. Some are successful, some are not. Months go by and I don't take any photos. Then wham, I fall in love with another image. Random.
